Live at Yoko
Am 1. August 2023 veröffentlicht die Band KlingKlong ihr Album „Live at Yoko“ auf Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, YouTube etc. und tritt den Beweis an, dass der intellektuelle Unterton politisch getönter Sprachkritik keinen Widerspruch zu hemmungslosem Groove darstellt.
Nachdem KlingKlong im vergangenen Jahr das Konzeptalbum „Jeder Mensch ein Sender“ (Enja 9781), das seinen Gravitationspol in Samples aus Reden von Politikern und aus Interviews mit Alexander Kluge hat, auf einer Tour mit Auftritten in und um Berlin, Hamburg, Konstanz und Salzburg vorstellte, dokumentiert „Live at Yoko“, der Mitschnitt des KlingKlong-Konzerts in Hamburgs wichtigster Jazz-Veranstaltungsreihe „Fat Jazz“ am 16.6.2022, wie KlingKlong das Repertoire erweitert, die Strenge des Konzepts aufweicht und einen gehaltvollen Spaß eigener Prägung entfaltet.
Das Ergebnis ist KlingKlongs sehr spezieller „sound of surprise“, der nicht Jazz ist und nicht Soul, nicht Pop oder Punk, nicht Rock oder Reggae, Neo oder Retro.
Während die siebenköpfige Band aus Hamburg, Konstanz und Barcelona aus sehr verschiedenen Quellen schöpft, ist es der Groove, der zunächst zählt, die Lust an der Bewegung und an überraschenden Wendungen, wohin sie auch führen. Dass KlingKlong mit seiner Musik zudem ein wohldosiertes Spiel mit musikalischen und textlichen Signifikanten und Referenzen treibt, erhöht nur den polymorph sinnlichen Reiz dieser Musik.

On August 1st, 2023, the band KlingKlong will release their album „Live at Yoko“ on Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, YouTube, etc. and prove that the intellectual undertone of politically tinged language criticism does not contradict unrestrained groove.
KlingKlong presented the concept album „Jeder Mensch ein Sender“ (Everyone is a radio) (Enja Records 9781), which has its gravitational pole in samples from politicians‘ speeches and interviews with Alexander Kluge, on a tour with performances in and around Berlin, Hamburg, Constance and Salzburg last year.
„Live at Yoko“, the recording of the KlingKlong concert in Hamburg’s most important jazz event series „Fat Jazz“ on June 16, 2022, documents how KlingKlong expands the repertoire, softens the strictness of the concept and unfolds a rich fun of its own character.
The result is KlingKlong’s exceptional „sound of surprise“, which is not jazz and not soul, not pop or punk, not rock or reggae, neo or retro. While the seven-piece band from Hamburg, Constance and Barcelona draws from very different sources, it’s the groove that counts first, the desire for movement and surprising turns, wherever they lead.
The fact that KlingKlong also plays with his music in a well-dosed way with musical and textual signifiers and references only increases the polymorphic sensual appeal of this music.

El 1 de agosto de 2023, la banda KlingKlong lanzará su álbum „Live at Yoko“ en Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, YouTube, etc. y demostrará que el trasfondo intelectual de la crítica del lenguaje con tintes políticos no contradice el ritmo desenfrenado.
KlingKlong presentó el álbum conceptual „Jeder Mensch ein Sender“ (Todos somos emisoras) (Enja 9781), que tiene su polo gravitatorio en muestras de discursos de políticos y entrevistas con Alexander Kluge, en una gira con actuaciones en Berlín, Hamburgo, Constanza y Salzburgo el año pasado.
„Live at Yoko“, la grabación del concierto de KlingKlong en la serie de eventos de jazz más importante de Hamburgo „Fat Jazz“ el 16 de junio de 2022, documenta cómo KlingKlong amplía el repertorio, suaviza el rigor del concepto y despliega una rica diversión de su carácter propio.
El resultado es el „sonido de sorpresa“ muy especial de KlingKlong, que no es jazz ni soul, ni pop, ni punk, ni rock, ni reggae, ni neo, ni retro. Si bien la banda de siete miembros de Hamburgo, Constanza y Barcelona bebe de fuentes muy diferentes, es el ritmo lo que cuenta primero, el deseo de movimiento y giros sorprendentes, donde sea que lleven.
El hecho de que KlingKlong juegue con su música de una manera bien dosificada, con significantes y referencias musicales y textuales, no hace más que aumentar el atractivo sensual polimórfico de esta música.
